Heat Pumps

Heat Pumps are the preferred water heating equipment in 2023

What makes Heat Pump Water Heaters better?

They are the most advanced water heating equipment in the world today. It is based on the reverse Carnot Cycle and uses refrigerant to get the heat from the air which is transferred to the water inside the tank.

Unique Aspects of the Heat Pumps:

  1. Heat Pump has a wide range of heat sources - sun, rain, earth, and air. Here we are considering the air source Heat Pump technology. They can work in all seasons and in all conditions, such as day and night, shining or cloudy days, and cold or hot climates.

  2. It can be installed in any location in the house and it does not affect the aesthetics of the house. The heat pump does not need sunshine to heat water like the solar water heater and can be installed inside or outside the house like a balcony or air condition platform, etc.

Where can you use Heat Pumps?

  • Individual houses for bathing, cooking, and cleaning

  • Apartment complexes – For kitchens and bathrooms

  • Institutional – Educational, hostels, and hospitals

  • Commercial – Hotels, restaurants, clinics, and saloons

  • Industrial – Small industrial processes such as washing, in the kitchen, and boilers

  • Government Premises – For kitchens, bathrooms, boilers, and cleaning

How do they work?

External air is sucked inside the heat pump with the help of a fan. Since the refrigerant in the evaporator is kept at a lower temperature than the surrounding atmosphere, it absorbs heat from the surroundings and evaporates. The compressor compresses the gaseous refrigerant and raises the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant. The heated refrigerant runs through the condenser coil wrapped around the storage tank, transferring the heat to the water stored there and it cools and condensates. The refrigerant then passes through an expansion valve where the pressure and temperature are reduced further for the whole process to start again.
